Beetroot in a smoothie? Yep – you heard it here first.
Beetroot is super high in antioxidants and awesome minerals. It’s one of nature’s superfoods. It has liver cleansing and detoxifying properties and is a wonderful addition to any spring cleanse.
But in a smoothie?
Yep – a smoothie. Stay with me here.
The beetroot and the berries work together to bring a sweetness and a depth of flavour that you’re gonna love. And the colour is just stunning!
Mulberries are in season where I live right now, which is why they made it into this recipe, but if you can’t find any, just use raspberries or even blueberries (frozen is fine too).
For this smoothie, I’ve used Bioglan’s beetroot powder, but if you just want to add a small chunk of fresh beetroot instead, that’s totally cool.
250ml coconut milk
1 handful mulberries
1 dessertspoon almond butter
1 tsp beetroot powder
4-5 ice cubes
Let’s do this!
Throw all your ingredients in a blender and whizz until smooth.
